The Labeling is considered to be the “the Face” of the Cosmetic product’s compliance with the EC 1223/2009 safety and health requirements and as such the Label is one of the essential elements when building up the Product Information file of a Cosmetic product.
The Labeling refers to the information presented on the outer packaging and the container of any Cosmetic product which needs to be presented at the very least in the official language(s) of the EU state it is indeed to be introduced in.
The Iinformation on the label which may not be misleading in any way (e.g., implying that the product has characteristics it does not have) includes but is not limited to:
✓ Name and address of the Responsible Person established within the EU.
✓ Nominal content
✓ Durability (Period After Opening – PAO, Expiration date)
✓ Particular precautions for use
✓ Product Full Commercial Name (Brand Name + Product Function)
✓ Ingredients (by INCI names and correct descending order of weight)
All information needs to be in accordance with the European requirements as defined in the Regulation and the official Guidelines issued by the European Commission and to be in complete alignment with the information which exists in the Product Information File.
